2002 Summit & Awards | The 2002 World Technology Summit & AwardsThe 2002 World Technology Summit was a two-day gathering of a about two hundred of the world's most innovative technology players - technologists, entrepreneurs, industrialists, scientists, financiers, journalists, and policy-makers. Delegates to the Summit explored the emerging technologies that will have the greatest impact upon industry and society in the first years of the 21st Century and created the relationships which will help those technologies happen sooner and better than they would otherwise. The World Technology Summit is the World Technology Network in action. ![]() Hosted at in New York City at both United Nations headquarters and the Millennium Conference Center, the Summit brought together WTN members and other specially invited guests. The Summit covers six key technologies - information, communications, materials, energy, biotechology/medicine, and space - as well as developments in the other related areas - of finance, marketing, policy, etc. - which determine whether a good idea ever becomes more than an idea. The last evening of the Summit was capped by a gala ceremony during which we presented the 2002 World Technology Awards, recognising those involved in technology who are taking the actions and making the decisions with the greatest likely long-term impact on business and society.
