2004 World Technology Awards Winners & Finalists
Please describe the work that you are doing that you consider to be the most innovative and of the greatest likely long-term significance.
Inditherm plc is a young company, formed 1998, that has an innovative technology that has huge advantages over traditional methods of generating heat. The technology provides substantial cost savings over competing technologies particularly in the areas of energy and maintenance. However, we have to convince customers and investors that using or investing in a revolutionary technology is not a high risk event. Our technology can be applied to a wide range of applications, including critical care for patients undergoing surgery, critical temperature management for process control in industry, car seat heating in automotive and sports field heating to prevent frost and snow preventing a sports event from taking place. To achieve this we try to communicate with both customers and investors the benefits of the technology and the growing application base generated by the success of the technology in the market place. Breaking down the "risk" element is the most difficult for any new technology, we try to achieve this through effective marketing communications using all possible media outlets. This has resulted in substantial business break through in 2004, opening up both the domestic and international markets.
