World Energy Technologies Summit 2005 Sponsorship

In February 2004, the WTN convened the first annual World Energy Technologies Summit (WETS). Held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, in association with UNOPS, UNESCO, TIME magazine, Technology Review magazine, and the World Renewable Energy Network (WREN), the conference focused on the topic "SHOULD WE LEAPFROG THE GRID?: Distributed Generation in the Developing World."

Bringing together top leadership from technology/industry and government/policy, along with key players in the finance, NGO, and journalistic worlds, this conference constructed a very credible platform for the WTN and its partners going forward in the energy sector. From thought-provoking lectures to idea-exploring and relationship-building breakout sessions, WETS was truly a catalytic experience.

The 2005 World Technology Summit promises build on the momentum generated from the first conference. With location, venue, and focus yet to be determined, we welcome the active and early engagement of visionary companies in the energy and related sectors. We seek real partners as we move ahead with an open mind for the innovative work yet to be done.
